The Royal New Zealand Ballet presents Home, Land and Sea; three powerful works that explore journeys across oceans, personal transformation, and the idea of home.
The title work, Home, Land and Sea, is a major collaboration between the RNZB and The New Zealand Dance Company. Choreographed by Moss Te Ururangi Patterson, it blends the rich cultural heritage of Aotearoa with echoes of Cook’s voyages, accompanied by original music by Shayne Carter.
Chrysalis by Shaun James Kelly is a poetic reflection on his own evolution from young dancer to choreographer, brought to life with music by Philip Glass and his signature elegant, musical style.
Completing the programme is Stephen Baynes’s The Way Alone: a contemplative response to music by Tchaikovsky, performed on major stages for the first time.
Together, these works offer an evocative evening of contemporary dance, rooted in identity, change, and connection.
